Older homes have a lot of charm. What they don't always have is central air. This Salt Lake City home was built in 1919 - over 100 years old - and the owners were done fighting the summer heat with window units and fans. They wanted real, whole-home cooling without tearing the place apart to get it.
That's where we came in. Installing central AC in an older home is a different challenge than dropping a unit into new construction. Tighter spaces to navigate and the home's character has to be respected throughout the process. We plan these jobs carefully so the end result feels like it belongs there - not like something was just bolted on.
The outdoor condenser units got set on solid pads tucked neatly along the brick exterior. Clean line routing on the refrigerant lines and electrical connections keeps everything looking intentional. The equipment carries an Energy Guide rating, so efficiency was part of the equation too - not just getting cold air moving, but doing it without running up the power bill.
Homes like this one are all over Salt Lake City. A lot of them are still relying on window units or swamp coolers that just can't keep up once temperatures climb. Central AC installation is absolutely doable in these homes - it just takes someone who knows how to approach it the right way.
