




A failing blower wheel and a cracked heat exchanger are two things you never want to find in the same furnace. The blower wheel kills airflow and comfort. The heat exchanger is a safety issue - a damaged one can allow combustion gases to mix with the air circulating through your home. When we found both problems here, the decision to replace the furnace wasn't a tough one.
We put in a 97% AFUE modulating furnace. That efficiency rating means the system extracts nearly all of the heat from the fuel it burns, wasting very little. But the modulating part is just as important - instead of running at full blast and then shutting off, it adjusts its output to match exactly what the home needs at any given moment. That means steadier temperatures, quieter operation, and lower gas bills.
On the outdoor side, we added a high-efficiency inverter heat pump and upgraded the second AC unit as well. The inverter heat pump works on the same principle as the modulating furnace - it ramps up and down based on demand rather than cycling on and off at full power. The result is better comfort with less energy use. Pairing it with a new AC on the other system gives this home reliable, efficient coverage across the board.
What started as a repair call turned into a full system upgrade that genuinely needed to happen. A cracked heat exchanger is not something you patch and move on from. This home now has heating installation and AC installation work done right - equipment that will perform efficiently for years, without the safety concerns that were lurking before.
